Jewelry Show

Here are some pics from my latest jewelry show...

This is the view from one side of my LOOOOONG countertop display.

This is a view from the other side of the counter top.

This is my first grouping. All the displays were brown-toned, like the cork boards, brown picture frames laying flat, and a couple bamboo cutting boards. There are also wood and hemp mannequins. The cork boards have plain clear pushpins, to which I hot glued clear rhinestones. I hung the necklaces from those. I tried to group the jewelry by colors, as well, so this display area has most of my red and purple stuff.

Hanging above the counter on the cabinets are three canvas panels. They are flat, not stretched on a frame like painter's canvas, but they work the same way. I hot glued small clothespins to the top, and hot glued pretty ribbon around the edges. I hung the tags for the necklaces and the earring cards in the clothespins...easy to pull out, but they hung very securely. I tried not to put anything too heavy up there, though. :) This display was not so much about color groupings as it was about weight, since I was worried about things falling. Nothing did, by the way. :)

Below the canvas panels, I had another little vingette. These were mostly neutral colored colored displays. On the back is a foam covered in fabric and backed with wood. I hung the jewelry with the same pushpins as on the cork board. The minitaure bench and chairs were purchased from craft stores, but they are cute and a nice way to display things with a bit of whimsy. There were also some long picture frames laying flat on the counter, as well as a pretty piece of cardstock scrapbooking paper. I tried to put most of my pinks, lighter blues, and a few black pieces on this one.

Next I used two little "do-it-yourself" wooden signs fom a craft store. I glued scrapbook paper on the inset of the sign, then hot glued clothespins onto the signs strategically to hold two necklaces and two pairs of earrings. I also bought these cute white wooden garden decorations from a craft store. One has a great long, tall handle, so it made hanging necklaces easy, which was great. The other piece, I lined with dark blue fabric on the bottom, and just laid some jewelry out on it. It look pretty nice. There was also a long white picture frame laying flat on the counter. This grouping I used for a lot of my brighter colors-orange, yellow, bright greens, and some multi-colored pieces that just seemed to "belong" here.

This last grouping was my "black and white" kind of displays. There were two magnet boards on the back wall, and I just used regular craft magnets to hang the tags for teh necklaces and the earring cards for the earrings. I also had three long picture frames laying on the counter. There was some turquoise, dark blue, and a lot of my black stuff here.

Whatever didn't fit on a display, I kinda just nestled between the displays on the plain counter top. They didnt look out of place or anything, which I was afraid of. So I guess that worked out. The counter was super long and very narrow, so tablecloths...well, they probably wouldn't have worked very well. Otherwise, I probably would have had some and felt better about how it looked. But it was fine...the counter was relatively neutral, so things looked fine. This gave me great feedback on displays and jewelry, what worked, what didn't, and how to improve everything. I'm looking forward to the next one, whenever that may be. :) Ill keep you posted on new developments.

Well...

I've determined I'm a terrible blogger. I very rarely update this thing, and when I do it's boring, with random pictures. So I'm going to attempt to remedy that, although...I'm not sure how well Ill do. Haha.

Just as a quick update, my latest show, on April 2, went well. I was excited to hear the feedback from people and see what kind of stuff they were interested in. Since the show, I've made a couple more sales, so that's exciting. It seems like things are starting to "take off" so to speak, even though I have a long way to go. Haha. I'll post pics of the show soon.

I've been working on several new techniques. As I was "stocking up" for the show April 2, I was able to try a lot of new things. Some were more successful than others, but it's been fun to try things out. I have a lot more long necklaces, some different styles of earrings, and a few bracelets (gasp!), which I didn't have much of before. And I'm working on putting some ideas I have into reality soon. Hopefully that will work well. :) There are so many things I'm anxious to try, I just can't seem to find time to work on them all. What a dilemma, right? Haha. So keep looking on my store for new postings, as I'm hoping to have new stuff up somewhat soon.

I will be out of commission for a couple weeks soon as I will be traveling, but I'll try to keep up to date. Ill also be trying to stay creative as I go. So...keep checking back!
